It is an ethylene-vinyl acetate (vinyl acetate) ester copolymer, which is produced by copolymerizing ethylene and vinyl acetate. Its English name is:, abbreviated as, or /. Generally, the vinyl acetate content is ~. Compared with polyethylene, due to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer into the molecular chain, the crystallinity is reduced and the flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility and heat sealing performance are improved. Generally speaking, the performance of resin mainly depends on the content of vinyl acetate in the molecular chain. Since the proportion of the constituent components can be adjusted to meet different application needs, the higher the content of vinyl acetate (), the higher its transparency, softness and toughness will be. The polymerization methods include high-pressure bulk polymerization (for plastics), solution polymerization (processing aids), emulsion polymerization (adhesives), and suspension polymerization. If the vinyl acetate content is higher than 3, emulsion polymerization is used, and if the vinyl acetate content is low, high-pressure bulk polymerization is used.
1. Characteristics
The characteristics of the resin are good softness, rubber-like elasticity, good flexibility at -℃, good transparency and surface gloss, and chemical stability. It has good properties, good anti-aging and ozone resistance, and is non-toxic. Good blendability with fillers, good coloring and molding processability.
It has a great relationship with vinyl acetate content, molecular weight and melt index. When the melt index is constant and the vinyl acetate () content increases, its elasticity, softness, compatibility, transparency, etc. will also increase. When the content is reduced, the performance is close to that of polyethylene, with increased rigidity, improved wear resistance and electrical insulation. If the content is constant and the melt index increases, the softening point will decrease, the processability and surface gloss will improve, but the strength will decrease. Otherwise, as the content decreases, the molecular weight will increase, and the impact performance and environmental stress cracking resistance will increase. The polarity of acetate increases elasticity and viscosity, decreases crystallinity and electrical properties, and is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and oils.
